GMAC MORTGAGE SPONSORS A HABITAT WOMEN BUILD DAY

HORSHAM, Pa. - May 22, 2004 - At least 20 volunteers from General Motors, GMAC Financial Services and GMAC Mortgage will kick off a Habitat for Humanity Women Build in Pontiac sponsored by General Motors and GMAC Mortgage this Saturday. They are among 168 women who are determined to build the house for a family in 12 days.

On the first day of construction, volunteers will install exterior and interior walls, sub-assemble soffits and overhangs, and begin to build a porch. The female construction crew is expected to complete the house in 12 non-consecutive Saturdays, between May 22 and October 2.

"GMAC Mortgage has a lot of female employees who are active members of the community and women are a big part of the volunteerism spirit in this company," said Debra Peel, director of marketing and community relations at GMAC Mortgage. "This is going to be a fun and exciting go-fast Habitat for Humanity project."

Women Build is a program of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Women volunteers from all walks of life are coming together to actively participate in the solution for poverty housing, one family and one house at a time. Since 1991, women crews have built more than 450 Habitat houses in the United States.

Last year on May 31, about 160 women participated in a Habitat Women Build event and GMAC Mortgage contributed $160,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County, making it the largest single-day donation in the history of the Habitat affiliate.

"This year the whole house will be build by GM and GMAC women," said Peel. "GMAC Mortgage shares the vision of affordable housing with Habitat for Humanity, and our partnership with Habitat is just one way of making homeownership a dream come true for everyone."

The Habitat Women Build is located at 430 Elm Street and the partner family is the De la Rosa family. Single mother, Jessica has f our young children and is anxious to move her family into a simple, decent, affordable home of their own. The Women Build House is the third Habitat home that General Motors and GMAC Mortgage have built together.

The Pontiac build is one of four Habitat for Humanity Women Build Days sponsored by GMAC Mortgage this month. Other events are being held in Wilmington, Del., Burlington County, N.J., and Waterloo, Iowa.
